Functional & Neutral
Kitchen
Beth transformed this kitchen into a beautiful, cohesive, and functional space for her clients. One of the main difficulties the homeowner had was with the functionality of the island; it took up a lot of the kitchen, but didn’t provide much storage or flow. Beth worked alongside the kitchen contractor to design a new island that allowed for ample seating, storage, and a secondary sink. Storage was maximized with floor-to-ceiling cabinetry, pullout shelves, and hidden compartments. She located a beverage bar by the fireplace that had a designated mini fridge and glassware storage for convenience.
Beth incorporated a mix of warm wood tones, including oak and walnut, to add richness and warmth within the neutral color palette and help create a balanced and inviting feel. She added additional texture with stone and an artisanal touch with a custom plaster hood by Kitchen Kraft, emphasizing depth and interest within the space.
The tall ceilings were enhanced by using statement pendant lights that drew attention to the ceiling, but also provided focused illumination. Using the same fixture in the dining room made the large space feel united and cozier. Beth selected a light that was large enough to have presence, but did not overwhelm the space. She intentionally layered the lighting by using ambient, overhead, task, and accent lighting to create a warm and functional atmosphere.
Beth tied the surrounding areas together with finishing touches, including materials and lighting. She ensured the new layout for her clients not only increased functionality, but provided easier movement between each space.
