This family home blends warmth, comfort, and modern elegance across its expansive spaces. The clients envisioned a home that felt timeless—like it had been built years ago—but refreshed with modern finishes. From a custom kitchen with hidden appliances to cozy dining areas and a playful wine bar, every corner was designed for living and gathering. Emily designed a bright conservatory surrounded by windows, allowing the family to enjoy sweeping views of their beautiful property. As a household full of boys, Emily created a third-floor retreat with a feminine touch—a peaceful escape just for Mom. With a private guest suite, a stylish theater for movie nights, and thoughtfully layered outdoor spaces, the home feels both grand and inviting, perfectly reflecting the family’s personality at every turn.

The client wanted the house to feel like an older home with updated modern finishes. The house has a lot of rooms so it still feels cozy. The Conservatory was a very fun room to design and decorate. It is surrounded by windows so the clients can take advantage of the views of their beautiful property.
The clients wanted an attached guest suite/in law suite. The space offers a bedroom, large bathroom, family room and large kitchen. It is attached to the main house, but has its own entrance for privacy.
The house has 6 bedrooms, each bedroom has a bathroom and walk in closet.
We added a 3rd floor loft/room for the homeowner. They are a large family full of boys so the 3rd floor has a more feminine feel so Mom can escape:)
We started the house by selecting flooring, cabinet finishes and we did a few bathrooms at a time. The house is very large so I didn’t want to overwhelm them with so many decisions. The clients wanted the kids rooms to be unique like their boys, but still flow with the rest of the house.
The challenge with this house was that it is very large, but we didn’t want it to feel so big. We wanted it to feel cozy and welcoming.
There are a lot of outdoor spaces and we wanted them to feel like an extension of the home, but each of them to be an individual space.
The theater room turned out to be a really fun space. The walls were covered in a fabric wallpaper and the carpet has a little art deco style to it. The trim carpenter added an art deco trim to the custom made bar.
I am proud of how the house turned out as a whole. It is a very large house and the client trusted me to help with every selection from the build to the furniture.
I would recommend that people hire a designer to help with the selections for a new build. I have found that the selections can be overwhelming for clients which sometimes results in clients making hasty decisions or they have too many ideas and try to incorporate every decision into the house which makes the house feel a little chaotic. A good designer will get to know your style and help you make your new build unique to you and your family without feeling like every other house in the neighborhood.
